I Know a Sound that All Men Love refers to a series of bait-and-switch parody videos in which a woman says she knows a sound that "all men love," revealing that it's the sound of high heels walking on a hardwood floor before a man tells her she's "wrong" and instead makes a sillier noise associated with masculinity or references a sound effect from a popular IP. The two variations of the video used in the trend appeared in late 2022, with memes using the format continuing into the following year.

Origin

There are two videos that have been used with the meme, one by TikToker @itssamikay and another with @miasophiarose, but both seem to have been deleted. It appears as though @itssamikay posted hers first, and the @misophiarose clip was using the original sound. One of the earliest known stitches on these videos was posted on October 23rd, 2022, by TikToker jeffmorrow4,^[2] who said he actually didn't like the sound because it likely indicated the shoe was cheap. The clip gained over 6,400 likes in six months (shown below).

More humorous variations began appearing in November 2022 as the videos of the two women became a meme trend with people abruptly cutting to other clips after telling them they were "wrong." For example, on November 16th, 2022, TikToker chezaidan^[1] posted a stitch with the @miasophiarose clip, saying that men actually loved the sound of men saying "Scotland!" The video gained over 486,000 likes in nearly five months (shown below).

From there, the meme began spreading on short-form video platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts. For example, on February 10th, 2023, TikToker Brandonvaldez55 posted a parody that gained over 210,000 likes in nearly three months (shown below, left). On January 15th, user @starwars24seven posted a parody with a clip from the Star Wars prequels, gaining over 38,000 likes in nearly four months (shown below, right).
