Great Value Blueberries

About

Great Value Blueberries, also known as Great Value Frozen Blueberries or Great Value Blueberries Jumpscare, refers to a bait-and-switch trend in which the product image of Walmart's Great Value brand blueberries interrupts a video while the intro music from Wii Sports Resort plays. The meme started on Instagram in 2023, later becoming prevalent on iFunny as well. The trend is similar to the precursor Blue Lobster meme and gained comparisons to seemingly nonsensical Zoomer Humor.

Origin

On May 4th, 2023, Instagram^[1] user @nass_is_openly_a_pikmin posted a video that used a scene from Family Guy in which Stewie Griffin looked out of the window to see Great Value blueberries while the opening theme from Wii Sports Resort played. Over the course of 16 days, the post gained roughly 2,400 likes (shown below).

Spread

Sometime before May 10th, 2023, TikToker @crocodie.l reposted @nass_is_openly_a_pikmin's video, however, the repost has since been deleted. Regardless, it gained virality, evident in a tweet sent by Twitter^[2] user @Suspiciousmimee on May 10th, 2023, that attached @crocodie.l's repost, captioning it, "What the fuck does this mean 💀," and gaining roughly 6,900 likes in 10 days (shown below).

On May 16th, 2023, iFunnier^[3] @puggythegreat posted a cropped version of the original video, gaining roughly 13,200 smiles in four days. The repost inspired others on the platform to make their own iterations. For instance, on May 19th, iFunnier^[4] @stesekes posted an iteration in which the blueberries came at the end of the This Is Sparta! scene from 300, gaining roughly 5,700 smiles in one day (shown below).
