Origin
The exact origins of the knife video are unknown, including who recorded it and where it was originally posted. The video began gaining viral spread on X on December 1st, 2023. The shock media shows a woman appearing to slowly and carefully insert a bread knife deep into her vagina, seemingly without causing any visible damage. Some have notably refuted that the video actually shows this act and is rather a sleight of hand, calling it fake.[5]
As the video began to spread that day, numerous users on X began posting reactions to it. On December 1st, 2023, X[1] user @ayeejuju posted a thousand-yard stare meme captioned, "just saw the knife video," garnering over 266,000 likes in three days (shown below).

On December 2nd, TikToker[3] @jpbrazzy posted a video in which he watches The Knife Video "until he gets traumatized," filming his reaction to it, garnering over 100,000 views in two days (shown below, right).

Also on December 2nd, 2023, Redditor u/Levangeline
made a post to the /r/OutOfTheLoop[4] subreddit asking about the video, garnering over 1,000 upvotes in two days. The top-upvoted reply from Redditor u/KasseusRawr answered:
