The Boys "Bones" Edits or Is This Entertaining refers to a series of memes on TikTok set to the song "Bones" by Imagine Dragons where the title card for the Amazon TV series The Boys is edited over viral video clips and scenes from TV shows, movies and video games after something dramatic happens with the lyric "is this entertaining" playing in the background. The trend became popularized on TikTok in August 2022.

Origin

The song "Bones" by Imagine Dragons appears in a season three preview for The Boys, which was posted to the Prime Video YouTube[1] channel in March 2022, garnering over 5.3 million views in five months (shown below).



On August 1st, TikToker[2] @interace_gmax posted a video using the song over a clip from The Amazing World of Gumball, imposing the title card for The Boys after Gumball runs over a gnome while riding a pig, referencing a scene where A-Train runs through and kills a woman in the series' pilot, garnering over 6.6 million views in three weeks (shown below). This is the earliest known version of the meme.

Spread

The trend spread over the course of the month, resulting in numerous viral uploads. On August 5th, 2022, TikToker[3] @mr_nebolo_24 posted a meme following the trend using footage from Penguins of Madagascar, garnering over 4 million views in three weeks (shown below, left). On August 7th, YouTuber[4] Chadward uploaded a compilation of these memes, garnering over 500,000 views in three weeks. On August 11th, TikToker[5] @bardelo_bardalini posted a video following the trend using chess pieces, garnering over 8.7 million views in two weeks (shown below, right).
