GEN V is a spin-off of the Amazon Prime Video show The Boys, inspired by a comic book of the same name. The show is based on the comic book story arc "We Gotta Go Now" by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson in which young adult superheroes are tested in battle royale challenges at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, run by Vought International. The show is set to premiere on Prime in late September 2023.

History

The Boys is an American satirical superhero comic book created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson in October 2006.^[1] The comic received a TV series adaptation that premiered its first season on Amazon Prime Video on July 26th, 2019, and is currently in the third season with the fourth expected to premiere in late 2023 or early 2024.

On September 20th, 2020, a spin-off of The Boys was announced^[2] and the first trailer for the GEN V series was revealed on July 24th, 2023. Shared on Prime Video's official YouTube^[3] account, the video (shown below) garnered over 6 million views and 50,000 likes in six days.

The show is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video on September 29th, 2023.

Online Presence

Various internet users reacted to the July 2023 trailer for GEN V following its unveiling, with Twitter user @VERONASFILMS^[4] uploading a series of images of American actress Jaz Sinclair (who plays Marie Moreau) paired with the caption "ready to see my girl jaz sinclair thrive in GEN V." The post (shown below, left) garnered roughly 930 likes and 150 retweets since it was posted on July 24th, 2023.

Also on July 24th, Twitter user @getFANDOM^[5] posted a picture of Jaz Sinclair alongside Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender. The post (shown below, right) garnered roughly 840 likes and 810 retweets in a week.

On July 24th, 2023, TikToker^[6] @spicedelrey posted a fancam of the main character (shown below), which received roughly 1,900 plays and 123 likes in a week.
