About

As is customary for most TF2 GMOD videos, new scenes are often created using rearranged audio from the original game, similar to the "Word Trim" method used in many Youtube Poops.

As with most Garry's Mod movies, much of the discussion and spread took place on the Facepunch.com forums.

On June 28th, 2009 trifarceproductions uploaded Epic Debate as a response to Scout is Delicious, sparking what soon became the TF2 Food Debate meme.

On July 28th, 2009, Youtube user CodenameFatNinja uploaded TF2 Food. As of today, August 23rd, 2009 this video only has about 3,000 views. UPDATE: As of November 25th, this video now has over 34,000 views.

On August 2nd, 2009, user Emillox30 uploaded "It Still goes on." this has about 2,000 views.UPDATE: As of November 25th, this video now has over 8,000 views

On August 3rd, ARMaster uploaded "THE FOOD DEBATE CONTINUES" which has over 16,000 views, which is the most of all related videos currently. UPDATE: As of November 25th, this video now has over 88,000 views

The following are all made my individual users between June to August of 2009. Each had between 5,000-200 views.

Observations

In August when this fad was first documented, the TF2 Food Debate was arranged in a memetic way, with plenty of derivatives, and and easy-to-emulate format. The only problem was that the views on each video were very low.

Observations from August:

Some hold the view that something must first have viral numbers in order to be considered memetic. But considering the behavior present in the creation and mutation of these videos, perhaps this is an example of an extremely small but true meme.

Today, each of the videos featured here have experienced a good deal of growth.
ARMaster and CodeNameFatNinja, the two with the highest viewed videos in this meme, have both credited this GotFunnyPictures entry in their video descriptions.

While the views have increased to a level on par with other memes in this database, it appears that this might be due to the GotFunnyPictures database bringing the TF2 Food Debate to a wider audience.

While we are happy that the creators of these videos have been able to get more views and have linked back, it is never our intention to turn something into a meme. Even though GotFunnyPictures has influenced the viewcounts of these videos, we did not consciously drive traffic to the videos. The contagious imitation in the videos, however, was present prior to GotFunnyPictures's influence.
