Sean Hannity's Hillary Clinton Web of Corruption refers to a series of photoshopped images and image macros based on a segment from the Fox News commentary show Hannity, in which host Sean Hannity presented a web of corrupt activities that lead to Hillary Clinton. Online, people mocked Hannity and the image for propagating conspiracy theories.

Origin

On November 14th, 2017, during Sean Hannity's opening monologue, he introduced the "Hannity big board," which showcased a map of corruption and conspiracy theories that all lead to former secretary of state Hillary Clinton (shown below).^[1] As he described, he used the map to "untangle the giant web of Clinton scandals of corruption."

Spread

Shortly after Hannity's segment aired, people online began to compare Hannity to a conspiracy theorist by juxtaposing the segment with other pop culture conspiracy theorists. Many of the examples of parody include references to other It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's infamous Pepe Silvia scene, in which the character Charlie constructs a conspiracy web of yarn and paper. Twitter ^[2] user @pattymo photoshopped a picture of Charlie over Hannity (shown below, left), receiving more than 2,300 retweets and 9,800 likes in less than 12 hours.

Others compared Hannity to former Fox News correspondent known for his conspiracy webs Glenn Beck (below, left) and The Simpsons Milhouse using a conspiracy web to uncover a secret leigion of "reverse vampires" (below, right).

Additionally, people captioned the image with various jokes about Hannity. That night, Twitter^[3] user @MazMHussain captioned the photo, "The chryon should just say '.'" The post (shown below) received more than 70 retweets and 580 likes in 24 hours.

The following day, Twitter^[4] published a Moments page to archive some of the most popular posts.
