About
Satoru Gojo, widely known by his first name, Gojo, is one of the main characters of the Japanese anime/manga Jujutsu Kaisen. Gojo is considered the favorite character in the show, as well as being an internet-favorite character to be memed, with memes often referencing his beauty, antics, powers, reactions, eyes and outfits.
Origin
Gojo debuted in the first chapter[1] of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga by Gege Akutami, titled "Ryomen Sukuna" (両りょう面めん宿すく儺な Ryōmen Sukuna), which was released on March 5th, 2018, by Weekly Shōnen Jump[2]. Gojo's first appearance is only through a short dialogue and a color page cover (shown below).
According to the Jujutsu Kaisen fanbook[3], Tobitake Tonbo, a Naruto character (shown below, right), is the inspiration behind Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo Satoru (shown below, left).
On March 4th, 2021, Twitter[4] user @soukatsu_ translated some of Gege Akutami's notes talking about Gojo's character design influence and inspirations. The post (shown below) garnered 3,000 likes and x retweets in two years.

According to a May 2023 article[5] about the most popular characters in anime history (According To MyAnimeList), Satoru Gojo is ranked in the 19th place, with 49,085 favorites. Jujutsu Kaisen fans love Gojo's audacious and sometimes arrogant personality. As the mentor of the protagonist, Itadori Yuji and the rest of his students, Gojo easily gained popularity in the anime community, being the subject of many memes and fan arts.

Get Gojoed refers to a TikTok trend in which people will take a photograph then photoshop it such that the subject looks like Satoru Gojō. For example, on June 30th, 2022, user @trinacupcake posted a video featuring Patrick Star looking like the Jujutsu Kaisen character, gaining over 497,000 likes.

As Gojo is considered the most popular character in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, countless fan arts have been uploaded inspired by him on the internet. For instance, on October 30th, 2021, DeviantArt[6] user @fofodzn posted a fan drawing of Satoru Gojo (shown below), which garnered 19,700 views and 118 favorites in two years.
