Nijiura Seven (Japanese: ニジウラセブン) is a parody flash animated video of Japanese 2005 TV anime Eureka Seven[1] and many popular materials of /b/ (Nijiura) boards in the Japanese imageboard community Futaba Channel (2chan).
Origin
This flash video is a derivative from Nijiura's photo collage fad of the crying and feared face of Renton Thurston, the protagonist boy Eureka Seven. It was taken from the last scene in the 19th episode "Acperience 2" aired on August 28th, 2005[2], where Holland Novak, one of the other main characters, is very upset at Renton and grabs him in his collar (shown below, left). This collaged photo fad featured Renton's very defiant duck face because Nijiura users liked to associate this scene with the crazy face expression of Doppio, the second persona of the villain in the 5th arc of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (shown below, right).
By compiling those collage works along with the 2nd opening theme song for the anime "Shōnen Heart" by a Japanese hiphop trio Home Made Kazoku[3], this flash video titled "Mushoku Doutei Nijiura Seven" (Japanese: 無職童貞ニジウラセブン; lit. "Disemployed Cherry Boy Nijiura Seven") was created by an anonymous Nijiura user in September 2005. This flash video also features many other characters popular in Nijiura such as Godman, Uncle Atsushi, Spelunker, Shimonkin, 2k-tan from OS-tan, etc…
Spread
Despite of Futaba users' exclusivism, this Nijiura Seven flash video was exceptionally shared among the internet users even before the video-sharing era. Following its style, the ending edition, also Futaba characters' parody of the 2nd ending theme song "FLY AWAY", was also created in January 2006.[4] Besides, a flash video of the Rozen Maiden version, "Rozen Seven", was uploaded on 2channel's /news4vip/ board in the same year.[5]

The further spreading of this video was brought by the reprint on Nico Nico Douga (NND) posted on March 6th, 2007, the launching day of their own video-hosting service.[6] Since then, the Nijiura Seven video and Renton's duck face have been sometimes utilized as templates for parodies on videos on NND[7] and illustrations on the illustrators community pixiv.[8] The famous derivative is NND's hand-drawn animated video meme Konbini which features Renton's duck face.
On the other hand, this parody video fad couldn't spread on YouTube because the record company owning this song, Sony Music Entertainment, strongly limits usages of their contents on this video sharing services. One of the oldest YouTube reprints uploaded on October 2006 had earned over a half million of views[9], but got muted by that company in around 2013.
