Overview

Jake Paul vs. Andrew Tate refers to rumors that influencer and boxer Jake Paul will fight controversial ex-kickboxer and podcaster Andrew Tate in an influencer boxing match. In December 2020, Tate challenged Paul to a boxing match through a video on his now-deleted YouTube channel where he criticizes Paul's fighting skills. In November 2022, Paul then posted a video where he and Tate stare each other down, potentially teasing an official fight.

History

Andrew Tate Challenges Jake Paul

On December 29th, 2020, Andrew Tate posted a video to his now-deleted YouTube channel where he challenges Jake Paul to a fight, putting $3 million on the line. In the video, he doubts Paul's boxing skills and challenges him to a boxing match. He also calls him a clown and makes fun of his girlfriend, calling him an "entitled dickhead." The video has since been reuploaded to YouTube[1] (shown below).



Tate talked about fighting Paul again on April 30th, 2021, on an episode of the Fresh & Fit podcast on YouTube.[2] In the video, he calls Paul a "very fortunate young man" because he's allowed himself to become the "biggest clown on the internet." He says he's upset that Paul gets to make so much money fighting since so many professionals are broke and it's "so hard to get paid fighting." He then doubts Paul would fight him and also hypes up Paul a bit, applauding him for working with real trainers and ultimately saying he can fight, but that he would still "kick his ass."

In July 2022, the clip resurfaced on TikTok[3] and YouTube[4] through Andrew Tate-related clips and fan pages, reigniting interest in the two fighting. Around July 15th, 2022, a video[5] of a pre-fight press conference interviewer asking Paul if he would fight Tate started going around online where Paul claims he doesn't know who Tate is (shown below).



Logan Paul Refuses To Fight Andrew Tate, Jake Paul Opposes Tate's Ban

In August, speculation about the possibility of Jake's brother Logan Paul fighting Andrew Tate. On an August 9th, 2022, episode of Logan's YouTube[6] podcast Impaulsive, featuring Jake, Jake brings up the fact that Tate called him out to fight. Logan asks for Jake's blessing to fight him, which Jake gives him (shown below, left).

In late August 2022, Tate was banned from Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and other social media apps for his controversial content. On August 23rd, Jake Paul tweeted[7] in opposition to Tate's ban from various social media platforms, writing, "I don’t roll with Andrew Tate. May KO his ass out in the ring one day soon. But I roll with freedom of speech," along with a link to Tate's "final message" video, garnering over 55,000 likes in three months.

On August 30th, 2022, Logan then posted an episode of Impaulsive to YouTube[8] where he explains how he changed his mind and refuses to fight Tate because he doesn't want to platform him (shown below, right).



Tate Calls Out Logan Paul

On September 22nd, 2022, Jake Paul posted an episode of his podcast BS With Jake Paul to YouTube.[9] At the start of the episode, he plays a clip from a recent Tate video where he calls Logan out for supporting him at first, then flipping on him after the cancelation. Jake says that while he doesn't think Tate should be banned, he doesn't think he'll ever get in the ring with Logan or himself (shown below).



Jake Paul's "Negotiations" Post

On November 10th, 2022, Paul posted a video to Twitter[10] where he and Tate are shown staring each other down in a gym as if they're about to box, garnering over 122,000 likes and 11,000 retweets in under a day (shown below). The video sparked increased speculation that the two would fight in the future and was reported on by numerous media outlets, including TMZ[11] and the New York Post.[12]


Reactions to the post were generally positive, with many excited about the possibility of the fight. On that day, Twitter[13] user @Akademiks posted, "Top G Andrew Tate vs Jake Paul??? Naa … idc if PpV is $200 take my cash I’m watching," garnering over 20,000 likes in under a day.
