Overview

Better Call Saul Emmys Snub refers to the crime drama television series Better Call Saul and its cast not winning a single award at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2022 despite four nominations and winning zero out of 46 of its Primetime Emmy Awards nominations since 2015. The surge in the show's online popularity in 2022 and the major critical and audience acclaim it has received over the years have resulted in the news of the snub going viral, spawning memes and discussions, with the line What a Sick Joke trending on Twitter in September 2022 shortly after the award ceremony's conclusion.

Background

Between 2015 and 2020, the crime drama television series Better Call Saul was nominated for a total of 42 Primetime Emmy Awards, winning none.[1]

In 2022, at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, Better Call Saul was nominated for awards in four categories: Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Bob Odenkirk), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Rhea Seehorn) and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. The show again lost in all four nominations,[2] bringing its track record to zero Emmy Awards for 46 nominations following its final season in 2022. The show lost its nominations to the HBO series Succession, while Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn lost theirs to Lee Jung-Jae for his lead role in Squid Game and to Julia Garner for her role in Ozark.
