Do Not Put This Where It Does Not Belong is a TikTok trend inspired by a viral video in which a doctor discourages viewers from using Christmas tree shaped Christmas decorations as adult toys, repeatedly showing the decorations and saying, "Do not put this where it does not belong." The video was posted at the end of October 2023 and inspired a trend over the following months in which TikTokers recreate the video using other, more exaggerated objects.
Origin
On October 31st, 2023, TikToker[1] @adamgaston, a doctor, posted a video in which he goes around Target while they're selling Christmas decorations and presents several Christmas tree shaped items to the camera, saying, "Do not put this where it does not belong," framing the video as a a "PSA" from a doctor, discouraging people from using the items as adult toys. The video gained over 9.9 million views in four months (shown below).

The video, which was reported on by BuzzFeed[2] on November 13th, 2023, inspired a trend over the following months in which TikTokers recreated the video with more exaggerated items. On November 30th, TikToker[3] @tojisrosetoy posted a video following the trend that gained over 113,000 views in three months (shown below, left). On December 21st, TikToker[4] @colinflaher posted a video that gained over 1.9 million views in two months (shown below, right).
