"Chiwawa," also known as Usa Chan! Moe Moe, Achoo or Bawaakakkaawoof, is a Japanese song by Wanko Ni Mero Mero that first appeared in the video game Just Dance 2016, later appearing in Just Dance Now and Just Dance Unlimited. In July 2022, the song became the subject of animation and lip-dub memes on TikTok where characters are depicted singing the song.

Origin

On September 29th, 2015, YouTuber[1] Partizan Official uploaded a music video for a song called "Chiwawa" that would appear in Just Dance 2016, released that October (shown below). The video garnered over 1.2 million views in seven years. The description describes how the song is about a girl who accidentally steps on her pet chihuahua. The song is sung by Japanese singer Reni Mimura.



On April 10th, 2022, YouTuber[2] Killua posted a sped-up version of the song, garnering over 310,000 views in five months (shown below).

On July 28th, 2022, TikToker[3] @zoqiie posted an animation set to a section of the sped-up version of the song in which the lyrics, "Usa Chan! Moe moe, moe moe, achoo," followed by dog noises, showing several characters singing the lyrics, garnering over 1.4 million views in two months (shown below). The uploader credits a now-deleted user, @agottwha, with the video.

The video's original sound became popularized over the following months in similar animations and lip-dub videos. On August 8th, TikToker[4] @mazvenus posted an animation over the audio using Genshin Impact characters, garnering over 1.2 million views in a month (shown below, left). On August 14th, TikToker[5] @illuxionists posted a lip-dub version of the trend, garnering over 2.1 million views in a month (shown below, right).

On September 13th, 2022, TikToker[6] @havery.vi posted a version of the meme using characters from Tokyo Revengers_, garnering over 160,000 views in three days (shown below). On September 15th, Twitter[7] user @kaomayas posted a version of the meme using characters from Macross Frontier, garnering over 260 likes and 100 retweets in a day.
