Boomer Shooter and Retro FPS is a subgenre of first person shooter games distinctive features of which are fast-paced gameplay, often with both horizontal and vertical movement, large number of enemies and large arsenal of available weapons. Due to the major popularity of the genre with gamers in the 1990s, the genre has been dubbed "boomer shooter." Starting in late 2010s, the genre experienced a revival thanks to both relaunches of popular older titles such as Doom and release of indie titles such as Dusk and ULTRAKILL.
