About
2000s Older Brother Core is an aesthetic defined by stereotypical objects and traits associated with having an older brother in the early 2000s to early 2010s, typically a skater or punk older brother. Some commonly associated older brother core imagery includes Monster Energy drinks, Xbox games, nu-metal and punk CDs and CRT televisions. The aesthetic was popularized on TikTok in June 2023 as users began uploading nostalgia compilation videos representing the aesthetic.
Origin
It is unclear when the first use of the term "older brother core" was used online. The earliest known use of the phrase is an X[1] post made on July 8th, 2021 by @kxtiemcc, reading, "here for 2000s older brother core." On May 8th, 2023, the aesthetic was defined on the aesthetics Fandom[2] page, which includes several pictures of stereotypical older brother core imagery (examples shown below).
Spread
In June 2023, older brother core became popularized on TikTok through nostalgic compilation videos. For example, on June 10th, 2023, TikToker[3] @exelyox posted a compilation that gained over 2.3 million views in two months (shown below, left). On June 20th, TikToker[4] @sono_raoul_di_lorenzo posted a video that gained over 204,000 views in the same rough span of time (shown below, right).

On June 23rd, TikToker[5] @4blue_moon4 posted an excerpt from their YouTube[6] video "Let's Explore Hyper Specific 2000s Aesthetics" where they define and show off the older brother core aesthetic, garnering over 620,000 views in two months on the former and 3,000 views on the latter (shown below).
