Uh oh religion

More seriously, it's such a convoluted clusterfuck of retaliations for retaliations for retaliations to an inciting incident that happened so long ago even the great grandparents of the people currently fighting don't remember, and it would take one side being "the bigger man" and basically conceding wholesale defeat for the conflict to actually end.

Israel could probably end this conflict any time they wanted to but they'd have to actually give up something to do so. Palestine could probably end it any time they wanted to if their entire race of people picked up and moved somewhere else…one of these things is much more reasonable than the other, IMO, but there it is.

Imagine you and your family own a home. You are then forced to allow a second family to live and share your home. You and the second family tolerate this forced situation at first. However, years go by and your family and the new family are butting heads on what items in the house belong to who, and what parts of the house they are allowed to have. Eventually the new family doesn't like having to share the house with your family and this leads both sides clashing over the proxy of the house.

Point is, carving up territory and asking two groups of people who don't like each other to suck it up and share the land was a horrible mistake.
