A pair of Pokémon trailers dropped today, one for Pokémon Legends Arceus and another for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the oft-clamored-for Sinnoh remakes.

Much of the buzz centered on the Legends Arceus trailer, which showed off several new aspects of the game, such as a Scyther evolution named Kleavor, a cast of wardens which appear to be something akin to the Gym leaders of traditional Pokémon games, and, weirdly, an Arceus-shaped cell phone that will act as this game's Pokédex-equivalent.

For a game that takes place in Pokémon's pre-industrial era, the anachronistic inclusion of a cell phone struck many fans as very odd.

Meanwhile, the Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl trailer didn't quite generate the excitement of the Legends Arceus trailer, as it mostly showed off features that were in the original games released in the mid-2000s. While the trailer revealed little new information other than a Poffin-creating minigame, it did reveal that HM moves—the bane of every trainer's existence for the first six generations—are now accessed through the "Pokétech" app, which means no longer will players have to trudge through Sinnoh with a so-called "HM slave."

We're closing in on the release dates of the new Pokémon games, which will most assuredly please everyone and not whip the fanbase into a frenzy.
