On June 17th, 2021, Twitter user @deadboyshit^[1] tweeted, "When a girl says she watches anime there’s a 90% chance this is what she means, along with four pictures of popular anime (shown below). The tweet received a ratio of 6,600 quote-tweets to 170 retweets.

Spread

The tweet spread widely thanks to a post from @SUGARMOUNTAINS,^[2] who screenshot the tweet and posted, "men be like you ain’t a real anime fan unless you watch Is It Wrong To Piss On My Bunny Girl Sisters Feet," gaining over 6,900 retweets and 37,000 likes (shown below, left). On September 3rd, user @yungburgerpatty^[3] reposted it, calling it the "funniest tweet on the site," gaining over 14,000 retweets and 111,000 likes (shown below, right).

The original tweet was parodied after yungburgerpatty's repost, with people substituting the anime in the original tweet with humorous images. User @songofstormss^[4] posted four images of Steve from Minecraft (shown below, left). User @skibbob^[5] posted images of popular American television shows (shown below, right).
