About

Sounds Like a 2023 Problem or Will Ferrell Cracking a Beer refers to a series of image macros using an image or GIF of the actor Will Ferrell cracking open a can of beer in an open field of flowers, taken from a Super Bowl XLVI ad for Old Milwaukee. The meme first started to spread in 2016, but in late 2022, a version of the meme captioned "sounds like a 2023 problem" gained viral spread across multiple social media platforms.

Origin

On February 5th, 2012, Super Bowl XLVI took place. He begins to say "Old Milwaukee," but is cut off. The commercial was uploaded to YouTube[1] by Mediabistro on February 7th, 2012, garnering over 1.9 million views in 10 years (shown below).

On September 2nd, 2016, Memedroid[2] user TheRealNSA posted an image macro using a screenshot from the ad with top and bottom text reading, "I ran twice today. First I ran out of beer, and then I ran to get some more," garnering over 1,300 votes in six years (shown below). This is the first known meme using the image.
