Putting Sauce Over and Over, also known as Guy Squeezing Orange Sauce On Food, refers to a viral video of a restaurant worker putting sauce over a container of food again and again after each step of preparing a delivery order, including putting sauce over the styrofoam container and the delivery bag. Posted on TikTok and Instagram in late April 2024, the video saw viral spread online in the following days and was used as a video and GIF caption format, often in jokes and memes about people overdoing things or using too much of something.

Origin

On April 26th, 2024, Austin, Texas restaurant Bussin' Bun posted a video of a worker preparing a delivery order, adding sauce over and over again after each step of preparing the order, including putting sauce over the styrofoam container and inside and outside the delivery bag. The video (shown below) garnered over 12.7 million views and 1.1 million likes on TikTok[1] and 913,000 likes on Instagram[2] in four days.

Spread

In late April 2024, the video saw further spread through reposts. On April 27th, 2024, Redditor full07britney posted the video to the /r/maybemaybemaybe[3] subreddit, where it received over 15,900 upvotes in three days. Later that day, X[4] / Twitter user @Alphafox78 posted the video, with the upload gaining over 2.5 million views, 1,800 reposts and 13,000 likes in three days (shown below).


In late April 2024, the video saw use as a video caption format. On April 28th, 2024, X[5] user @KevinNaughtonJr posted the video with the caption "software engineers adding JavaScript to everything." The post (shown below) garnered over 1.7 million views, 2,000 reposts and 20,000 likes in two days.


Later that day, X[6] user @CharlesPattson posted a caption meme using the video that received over 130 reposts and 1,200 likes in the same period (shown below).
