About

Worthikids is the online handle of animator and musician Ian Worthington. Worthington has made music and animations on the internet since the early 2010s but gained significant attention and prominence in the late 2010s and early 2020s, especially with his original animated web series "Bigtop Burger."

History

Ian Worthington was born on May 17th, 1996.[1] He was homeschooled and taught himself drawing and animation at a young age. He began releasing his animation online in the early 2010s with his earliest animation being a Homestuck fan animation he has since privatized on his YouTube channel.[2]

On April 9th, 2014, he released his first original music, an album titled Bag of Sentiments, on Bandcamp.[3]

Beginning in 2015, he gained popularity by creating animated versions of pre-existing videos that were already popular online, including clips from The Eric Andre Show, Check It Out! With Dr. Steve Brule, Rhett and Link, The McElroy Brothers and the Pepe Silvia clip of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The most popular of these clips, featuring the McElroys' character The Final Pam, has over 4.4 million views as of 2021 (shown below).[4]

Worthikids became known for his distinctive character art style, and for his unusual practice of using the 3D animation software Blender to mimic other animation styles, such as hand-drawn 2D animation or stop-motion animation.[2] On August 18th, 2018, he uploaded his first animation with original audio, "Frasier and Niles become Demon Lords." As of 2021, the video has received over 1.8 million views.[5]

Worthikids' most popular video is "Palpatine's Journey," a Star Wars fan animation comedically following Emperor Palpatine between his apparent death in Return of the Jedi and his return in The Rise of Skywalker. As of August 2021, the video has over 12 million views.[6]

Bigtop Burger

On June 1st, 2020, Worthikids uploaded "BIGTOP BURGER: STOVE," the first episode of a web series about a clown-themed food truck. The series features the voices of other web creators, including ProZD, Lindsay and Alex Small-Butera and Chris Fleming.
