About

Stripper Vash is the moniker of Zach Naggatz, a cosplayer who became famous for his personal stage rendition of character Vash The Stampede from anime Trigun, usually stripped of most of his clothes. Starting in the early 2000s, he would later be a regular on many conventions across the US before being, with his friend and stage partner Voltz (A.K.A Jim Kehring), actual hosts of these conventions. Alongside with Sailor Bubba and Man-Faye, he became a staple of cosplay culture on the internet.

Origin

Naggatz did his cosplay debuts on stage during the 2004 Anime Central convention in the MidWest. As all skits were filmed, a video of his performance was uploaded to YouTube on July 10th, 2006 by the official American Cosplay Paradise channel (shown below). Cosplayed as Vash The Stampede, Naggatz is quickly joined by another person crossplayed as Meryl Stryfe from the show, discussing a "6-inch rule" on the clothes Vash is allowed to wear, resulting in him stripping down, only leaving his kneecaps and underwears on, to a screaming audience. According to the video description, the skit won the Best in Show Group Performance award.

Spread

In 2005, Naggatz began performing in different conventions with his lasting parter Kehring, usually doing improv' centred around is newly famous Stripper Vash persona during Otakon (shown below, left). while also cosplaying as various other characters throughout the years and, again, playing on sexual innuendos and wardrobe malfunctions like during Anime Central 2005 with a skit parodying Naruto (shown below, right), winning various awards in the process.
