Knuckles, Just Choose A Spaghetti Sauce is a viral animation and audio clip where Sonic from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise yells at Knuckles to choose a spaghetti sauce while standing in the aisle of a grocery store. The animation was posted to YouTube in July 2022 and is based on a piece of fan art posted on Twitter the previous month. It inspired a variety of memes and animations interpreting the clip and using it as an exploitable.

Origin

On June 26th, 2022, Twitter[1] user @issac1323 posted a piece of fan art showing Sonic and Knuckles in a grocery store arguing in the spaghetti sauce aisle. Sonic yells, "Just choose a spaghetti sauce!" and Knuckles yells, "I'm Trying!" The post gained over 47,000 likes and 5,200 retweets in a month (shown below).

On July 20th, YouTuber[2] Skoopity posted an original animation interpreting the tweet, gaining over 259,000 views in six days (shown below).

The animation inspired further animations over the following days. On July 20th, 2022, YouTuber[3] David Tamburro posted a 3D animation using the audio clip from Skoopity's video, gaining over 10,900 views in six days (shown below, left). On the same day, YouTuber[4] ASleepyCat posted an original animation based on the meme, gaining over 145,000 views in the same span of time (shown below, right).



On July 22nd, YouTuber[5] SlippyRedSocks posted a version of the meme using Sonic.exe, gaining over 158,000 views in four days (shown below). On July 26th, YouTuber[6] Lessons In Meme Culture posted a video about the meme, gaining over 61,000 views in under a day.
