Jamaica They're Trapped Down In, continued Jamaica They Can't Even Ja-Party, refers to lyrics from the song "Save This Show" from the Cartoon Network show Total Drama, originally sung by the characters Geoff and Bridgette in the season three episode "Aftermath: Revenge of the Telethon." The song, specifically Geoff's part about Jamaica, became a meme on TikTok in mid-2023, where video creators added different visuals to the song including cats and dogs.

Origin

On December 9th, 2010, season 3, episode 12 of Total Drama titled "Aftermath: Revenge of the Telethon" aired on American television.^[1] In the episode, the characters Geoff and Bridgette sang a song called "Save This Show" which included a part where Geoff was singing, "Jamaica, they're trapped down in. Jamaica, they can't even Ja-party. It's so unfair" (YouTube^[2] upload shown below).

On December 24th, 2021, TikToker^[3] @total_drama_1.2.3 shared the song to the app, gaining roughly 27,300 plays and 1,500 likes in two years. Two years later, on July 21st, 2023, YouTuber^[4] MachemRodez posted a video called "SAVE JAPARTY" which is currently the first-discovered memetic usage of Geoff's verse. The video received roughly 11,000 views in one month (shown below).

After YouTuber^[4] MachemRodez's video, Geoff's verse in "Save This Show" became a trending meme on TikTok, following an upload from TikToker^[5] @midwestemo4life on August 8th, 2023, which captioned Geoff singing with, "Me when i'm in Jamaica and cant Japarty," gaining roughly 3.4 million plays and 676,200 likes in ten days (shown below, left). The video's sound^[6] quickly gained usage from others on the app. The first-known usage was posted by TikToker^[7] @svargmar on August 8th, who called the song "emo," gaining roughly 119,600 plays and 22,500 likes in ten days (shown below, right).

Soon after, various video creators started to make edits with the song. One of the earliest and most viral was posted by TikToker^[8] @beingcarmen on August 12th, 2023, showing sharks in situations that coincided with the lyrics. The video received roughly 3.4 million plays and 781,900 likes in six days (shown below).
