I Don't Wanna Be Horny Anymore, I Wanna Be Happy is a viral catchphrase often used as a caption for memes in which various characters are depicted looking tired and somber as to emphasize the meaning of the phrase. Memes based on the catchphrase are often accompanied by "Guts' Theme" from the Berserk anime series. The format has also become known as Silence, Wench following a viral Doge edit.

Origin

On December 8th, 2019, Twitter^[1] user @BhadDhad posted an image of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City protagonist Tommy Versetti captioned "i don’t wanna be horny anymore, i wanna be happy." The tweet received over 3,700 retweets and 10,600 likes in eight months (shown below).

Spread

The catchphrase did not see notable spread until early March 2020, when an unknown user posted a video version of the meme in which the macro was accompanied by "Guts' Theme" from the soundtrack of the 1997 anime series Berserk. On March 3rd, Instagram^[2] account zeldas.butt made the earliest found repost of the meme which accumulated over 63,000 views and 14,400 likes in five months (shown below). A March 4th iFunny^[3] repost of the meme received over 3,400 smiles, with more reposts on Instagram, iFunny and Twitter being posted in the following week.

Approximately in early April 2020, PornHub user Guigutop used the catchphrase in a comment to a PornHub video, with the comment accumulating at least 250 upvotes prior to being deleted (shown below, left). Starting on April 10th, screenshots of the comment were circulated online on Reddit,^[4] Instagram^[5] and other websites. On April 14th, iFunny^[6] user a_thug_pand4 posted a Press Y to Shame meme based on the comment, gaining over 41,500 smiles in three months (shown below).

Starting in early April 2020, the catchphrase saw a notable spread online, being used as a caption for memes, a source material for reaction memes and, paired with the "Guts' Theme," in edits.

Silence, Wench

On July 26th, 2020, iFunny^[7] user ClubbedPenguin posted a Doge version of the meme in which Doomer doge declines an offer to subscribe to a female Doge's OnlyFans. The video accumulated over 12,100 smiles in one year.

- Silence, wench! I do not wish to be horny anymore. I just want to be happy…

In the following months, the video received viral spread online. For example, on July 27th, Redditor^[8] catmanxplode reposted the video to the /r/dogelore subreddit, where it gained over 1,000 upvotes in six months.
