About

George R. Binks is a fictional character appearing in the non-canon Star Wars Tales 20 comic book who is the father of the Star Wars character Jar Jar Binks. Depicted as the captain of a whaling ship disappointed with his idiot son, George R. Binks went viral on social media several times during the 2010s and 2020s, with a panel of him putting a gun to his head used as a reaction image.

Origin

On June 30th, 2004, Star Wars Tales #20, the twentieth issue in the non-canon Star Wars Tales comic book series, was released.[1] The issue included a 10-page comic George R. Binks by Tony Millionaire, which tells the story of Jar Jar Binks' father, George R. Binks (phonetically "Jor Jar Binks"), a captain of a whaling ship disappointed with his nitwit son. Over the course of the comic, George R. Binks' ship gets sunk by a sea monster because of Jar Jar's ineptness, with George, his wife, and Jar Jar getting stranded on an uninhabited island. Getting progressively disappointed with his son and his life choices, George R. Binks unsuccessfully attempts to commit suicide, with the last panel of the comic showing him lamenting his life (pages 7 and 8 of the comic shown below).
