I think it's important to call out to people that would sincerely call themselves pacifists that peace in Ukraine will not simply appear from continued negotiations. It's not simply that negotiators haven't found the right set of words or worn down the other side verbally enough to get an agreement, it's that the conditions just flat-out aren't there for either side to make a concession. Putin has not changed in the slightest on his maximalist goals to annex Ukraine and will not accept anything less than complete capitulation. His own diplomats don't even know what they're demanding when they are demand Ukraine undergoes "denazification".

Back in late March when the Russians still occupied a larger swathe of Northern Ukraine, Ukraine put forth a proposal that would see Kyiv remain out of NATO and the Donbass/Crimea put in a neutral status that would see both Russia and Ukraine negotiate over the next 10 years for, in exchange Russia would withdraw to pre-Feb 24th lines. Russia couldn't even agree to that. Putin WILL NOT agree to any concessions until the situation degrades militarily to the point that he is forced to concede. Anyone that believes otherwise in Putin is a naive fool.

Look, after Bucha and its myriad sequels, the constant claims that Ukraine is not a country but an "unruly province", and the fucking kidnapping of thousands of children into Russia fast-tracked into adoption so they wouldn't have Ukraine's heritage, I refuse to call it anything else.
