To play Devil's advocate for a moment, I too realized how similar Souls and Monster Hunter boss fights feel. Both are very David vs Goliath with minimal room for error (MH starts more forgiving, but arguably becomes even less so), both reward clever tactics and precision over brute force (usually), and both have you whittling down the boss' health over an extended period of time instead of "rocket tag" gameplay based on waiting for a weak spot to show up and poking it a few times. This is especially true if you match up sword and shield users of both games, the playstyle is remarkably similar.
