A new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet dropped this morning, and while it seemed that the trailer's main purpose was to reveal the games' release date of November 18th, the few glimpses it showed of the game in action had Pokémon fans buzzing.

There's a lot to cover here, but the breakout star in the trailer's immediate aftermath is undoubtedly Lechonk, a pig Pokémon who seems to be occupying the traditional "early-game Normal-type" Pokémon position held in the past by the likes of Rattata and Wooloo. According to Washington Post games reporter Gene Park, the name is likely a play on the word "lechon," which is a Filipino roasted pig dish. Of course, with the addition of a "k" to lechon, you have a name very similar to a popular meme.

Fans were also excited about the two new Pokémon professors that will be unique to each game — Scarlet's Professor Sada and Violet's Professor Turo. It appears the games will have an ancient past/distant future theme respectively, and thus Sada has some cavewoman-like accessories while Turo, to put it bluntly, resembles Gigachad.

The internet has deemed them both "very hot," and you can be sure to keep an eye out for the eventual GotFunnyPictures entries for each character once the inevitable fan art rolls in as it does for every "very hot" character in the Pokémon franchise.

The trailer also introduced the box art legendary Pokémon, Koraidon and Miraidon, whose design seems inspired by motorcycles, though some say they resemble other things.

And last but not least, at least one Pokémon fan highlighted the trees in the trailer, as the trees in Sword and Shield were a very contentious point for some fans at the time.

The big gameplay hook revealed in the trailer was that the games would allow for four-person co-op, allowing a group of players to adventure through different locales, battle and trade at once.

One interesting tidbit provided by Pokémon that didn't make it into the trailer is that players will be able to explore without being restricted by the story. One wonders if that means players will also be able to access a majority of the games' Pokémon immediately without being restricted to catching certain types in typically late-game areas. We'll have to wait six more months, or at least until the next trailer, to find out.
