Yo Soy Luigi refers to a remix of the song "Overdue" from the Friday Night Funkin mod "Mario's Madness." The song features Spanish-language lyrics sung by the Nintendo character Luigi. In the first months of 2024, the song inspired multiple remixes and memes as it garnered virality online.

Origin

On January 9th, 2024, Twitter user @Marx4562^[1] tweeted an edit of the Friday Night Funkin Mod song "Overdue" from the "Mario's Madness" mod. In the edit, they sang Spanish lyrics from the perspective of Luigi to the tune of the song. The tweet gained over 1,000 retweets and 3,300 likes in two months (shown below).

The post quickly inspired edits on YouTube improving the quality of the song. On January 14th, 2024, YouTuber Puwr FLP^[2] posted an autotuned remix, gaining over 293,000 views in one month (shown below, left). On January 24th, YouTuber WilanX12^[3] posted a skit that used the animation as a punchline, gaining over 173,000 views in one month (shown below, right).

On February 6th, YouTuber Gemeralda^[4] posted an animation for the song, gaining over 92,000 views in three weeks (shown below, left). On February 10th, YouTuber Floppus Flopado^[5] posted an animation for the remix, gaining over 67,000 views in two weeks (shown below, right).
