About

WYD During "A Moment Of Silence For Israel"?, also known as "A Moment Of Silence For Israel" Me:, refers to a trend and series of memes on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) in which pro-Palestine supporters joke about making a loud noise or disrupting calls for moments of silence for Israel during public events. The trend follows the conflict between Israel and Hamas that started on October 7th, 2023. Jokes about disrupting "a moment of silence for Israel" can be traced back to TikTok on October 2023, continuing onto X in November of that year.

Origin

Jokes mocking calls for a "moment of silence for Israel" can be traced back to X in October 2023 after the NFL held a moment of silence on October 12th, 2023, during a football game.[1] An early example of someone mocking the sentiment is an October 14th post by X user @jtb3am[2] that included the caption above a video of several people loudly yelling.

On October 20th, TikToker[3] @lol_uthman posted a video with a text overlay that read, "A moment of silence for isreal please," proceeding to film himself screaming in his car. The video gathered over 500,000 plays and 150,000 likes in a month (seen below).
