About
Tobirama Senju is a character from the manga and anime series Naruto and the Second Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. In memes, Tobirama is portrayed as hateful, spiteful or "racist" towards the Uchiha Clan and the various characters connected to its bloodline.
Origin
Due to being long dead prior to the beginning of the series' timeline, Tobirama's only appearances and mentions throughout most the main story are either through narration or flashbacks. A physical copy of Tobirama gets summoned alongside one of his elder brother Hashirama via the Reincarnation Technique (Edo Tensei) by Orochimaru in chapter 118, published on April 22nd, 2002.[1][2] However, a large sculpture of his face can be seen in the very first chapter of manga (depicted beside the other Hokage of the village), published on October 4th, 1999, on Hokage Rock (shown below, left).[3] Tobirama reappears in a flashback narrated by Obito Uchiha in chapter 399, published on May 26th, 2008.[4] According to Obito, Tobirama systematically segregated the Uchiha from the village's positions of power by using them as police force and relocating their clan's quarters to a remote section of the village (shown below, right).[5][6]
When Tobirama was brought back once again by Orochimaru and met Sasuke Uchiha, he showed prejudice and resentment towards him and his clan, describing them as a clan "possessed by evil". He later claimed that when he was alive he did not hate the Uchiha, but that he took action due to the danger they posed to the village.[7][8]

Early memes from the Naruto fanbase made in the early 2010s about Tobirama portrayed him as the Hokage who "invented everything" as he did canonically invent most of the techniques (jutsu) in the series (examples shown, below).[9][10][11]
After his interactions with Sasuke Uchiha, memes about Tobirama mainly focused on his distrust and prejudice toward the Uchiha. On May 2nd, 2020, an Ancient Aliens meme featuring Tobirama and several Uchiha characters was posted on Reddit community r/TwoBestFriendsPlay by leabravo.[12] The post received over 190 points in 3 years (shown below, left). On October 18th, 2021, a Vince McMahon Reaction meme that showed Tobirama reacting to various Uchiha characters' deaths was posted on r/dankruto and garnered over 775 points in 2 years (shown below, right).[13]
On October 17th, 2020, YouTuber RashadStark TV uploaded a fan dub video titled "2nd Hokage Is Super Racist To Uchiha". The video received over 35,000 views and 1,200 likes in 2 years.[14]
On March 11th, 2022, a YouTube meme short about Tobirama smiling after seeing Sasuke getting stabbed was uploaded by Ivyyy, and received over 83,700 views and 4,500 likes in one year.[15]
On June 17th, 2022, a parody: video of Tobirama over a Key & Peele comedy skit was uploaded by izuna san on YouTube and received over 1,901,500 views and 172,000 likes in one year.[16]
On July 25th, 2022, a video titled "Tobirama racist moments (Shorts)" was uploaded by DomicleLx, abs showcased the unedited anime interaction between Tobirama and Sasuke. The video received over 717,500 views and over 73,000 likes in 10 months.[17]
