Thank You For Changing My Life (also Thank You For Saving My Life) refers to a series of Wojak Comics memes in which a Wojak character, usually Trad Girl, thanks something or someone for changing or saving their life, with the subject of her gratitude responding with the snowclone I'm Literally an X. The format gained significant popularity in late November 2020 following a viral tweet.

Origin

On November 29th, 2020, Twitter^[1] user @isitromatic posted a meme in which Trad Girl thanked Taylor Swift's 2020 album "Folklore" for changing her life, with the album responding "i'm literally an album." The post received over 4,600 retweets and 23,900 likes in five days. While the meme is presumably based on a non-ironic version, it could not be discovered.

Spread

On November 29th, within one hour of @isitromantic's post, Twitter^[2][3] users @velmakvlly and @legobatmans made two more posts based on the format which gained over 4,600 retweets and 21,900 likes and 3,000 retweets and 22,200 likes in five days, respectively (shown below, left and right).

Starting on November 29th, the format received viral spread on Twitter, with users posting memes about music albums, films and characters. For example, a November 29th tweet^[4] by @evillanelles received over 2,600 retweets and 19,800 likes (shown below, left). On the following day, the format started getting traction on Facebook, Instagram and other platforms; for example, a November 30th post by Instagram^[5] account infinitelyharry received over 6,500 likes (shown below, right).

In early December 2020, the format maintained a significant virality online, with multiple viral posts being made by users on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Reddit.
