About

Pokémon Masters is a Pokémon mobile game in which players can team up with various trainers and notable trainers from the main series of games and take on other teams in real-time 3-on-3 battles.

History

On May 29th, 2019, during a Pokémon-related press conference ahead of E3 2019, DeNA, the company behind games like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem Heroes, announced the development of Pokémon Masters, a new mobile game in the Pokémon universe. There, it was announced that the game would feature trainers from previous games, as well as some of their Pokémon. It showed off the game's 3-on-3 battle system and some of the interactions with Pokémon Trainers such as Brock, Misty, and Cynthia.

On June 27th, a full trailer for the game in an anime art style was released by the Pokémon Company on YouTube (shown below). There, it was revealed that the game will take place in the "Pasio" region, additionally, support players will be able to act independently of the player, and take steps such as healing their own Pokémon. As of June 28th, there is no official release date for the game, but it is due to be released in 2019.

User @shofu[4] said it looks better, gaining over 1,000 retweets and 8,000 likes (shown below, left). User @UltimaShadowX[5] game a similar response (shown below, right). These were covered by the Daily Dot.[6]

This is definitively a game you want to wait and see how it's monetized before you buy into it, mobile games can be monsters for that sort of thing. It also might be a good idea in case it gets banned for loot boxes.
