Kylie Skin is a brand of dermis products like face washes, scrubs, moisturizers and makeup removing wipes founded by Kylie Jenner.
History
On May 10th, 2019, Kylie Jenner[1] announced her new skincare line on Instagram in a post that gained over 5.1 million likes in a month (shown below).
She announced in the post that the official launch date would be on May 22nd:
"KYLIE F*CKING SKIN! wow. skincare and makeup go hand in hand and Kylie Skin was something i dreamt up soon after Kylie Cosmetics. I’ve been working on this for what feels like a lifetime so i can’t believe I’m finally announcing! building my makeup line from the ground up has taught me a lot and I’m so blessed with that knowledge to apply to my brand new company! Birthing a whole new team, manufacturing, fulfillment etc separate from my cosmetics line was challenging but here we are! I got the best of the best for you guys! Everything is cruelty free, vegan, gluten free, paraben and sulfate free and suitable for all skintypes. Make sure you follow @kylieskin to stay updated. Kylie Skin[4] consists of six products: foaming face wash, vanilla milk toner, walnut scrub, vitamin C serum, face moisturiser, and eye cream with the entire set retailing for $125.[2]
On May 14th, Kylie Jenner uploaded six videos introducing each product to YouTube. One of her videos features a Walnut Scrub which later draws criticism from fans (shown below). The video gained over 398,197 views in 15 days.
On May 29th, Jenner posted a video via the Kylie Skin Twitter account demonstrating face wash by washing her face for a few seconds using a filter and drying it off with a towel covered in foundation (shown below). The video accumulated 9,300 likes and 1,000 retweets in a day.

Reception
Many Twitter users began to criticize the products. On May 14th, @imteddybless[5] tweeted, "do NOT pay this billionaire your hard earned money so you can tear up your precious faces with tiny bits of walnut. DO NOT" (shown below, left). The tweet refers to previous beauty products using apricot and walnut that are known to harm your face.[3] The tweet garnered 1,700 retweets and 17,500 likes in 15 days. After the release of the products many Twitter users praised the skincare line. On May 25th, Twitter user @IsaiahandersonS[6] tweeted, "just finished all the steps for @kylieskin by @KylieJenner and I can honestly say it’s amazing and definitely worth the $125, my face feels amazing and so clean I’m so glad I found a new skincare routine 🥰💜" (shown below, right). The tweet gained over 3,100 likes in five days.
On May 29th, many commented on Jenner's odd twitter video in which she washes her face. @Mahaliah[7] tweeted "Imagine buying face wash from someone who doesn't even know how to wash their face properly" (shown below). The tweet accumulated over 6,800 likes and 600 retweets in a day.
Impact
Kylie Skin products quickly became a line of popular products for beauty YouTubers to review. On May 19th, Heather & Trell's Family uploaded a review video which accumulated over 346,500 views in 10 days (shown below, left). On May 28th, PartickStarrr uploaded a review which gained over 1.6 million views in a day (shown below, right).
