S.I.M.P., an acronym for Squirrels In My Pants (and not to be confused with Simp), is a popular song and dance scene from the Disney animated series Phineas and Ferb. The song inspired remixes and videos of fans performing the dance which accompanies the song.

Origin

The scene originates from the Phineas and Ferb episode titled "Comet Kermillian," which first aired on The Disney Channel on August 2nd, 2008.^[2] In the episode, Candace Flynn has an acorn shot into the seat her pants by Suzie Johnson wielding a croquet mallet. This causes a pair of squirrels to dive into Candace's pants and makes her flail and kick uncontrollably. Meanwhile, a couple of rappers named "2 Guyz N the Parque" are performing in Danville Park and notice Candace's movement and shouting, in which they make a song about. The clip (shown below) was uploaded to YouTube by Disney Music on October 7th, 2009, and has received over 12.6 million views in over twelve years.^[3]

The song started being remixed in late 2009. On November 26th, 2009, drewsterna posted a remix of the song to YouTube^[4] (shown below, left) which received over 79,000 views in over twelve years. On December 22nd, 2009, PFChipmunk posted a chipmunk-pitched version of the song to YouTube^[5] (shown below, right) which received over 155,000 views in over twelve years.

Fan videos of the dance started to appear the early 2020's. On March 29th, 2020, Kate Tyler posted a YouTube^[6] video in which she performed the S.I.M.P. dance to the song (shown below, left) which received over 144,000 views in over two years. On July 10th, 2021, Solomon's spot posted a video to YouTube^[7] in which he edits himself into the music video and performs the dance as a JibJab-style figure (shown below, right) which received over 11.1 million views in over ten months.

The S.I.M.P. dance trend also spread to TikTok. On November 17th, 2021, cartoonconnoisseur posted a TikTok^[8] video in which he imitated the dances of not only Candice, but also the background dancers. The video (shown below, left) received over 3.1 million views and over 697,000 likes in over six months. On March 13th, 2022, samantha_hild posted a TikTok^[9] video that not only has her performing the dance, but also has two other people playing the rappers from the original video. The video (shown below, right) received over 1 million views and over 251,000 likes.
