Scar Eats Mufasa Lion King Fan Theory is a hypothesis based on the plot of the 1994 Disney animated film The Lion King. The theory, which went viral on TikTok in January 2021, postulates that after killing his brother and pride leader Mufasa, The Lion King character Scar ate his brother and played with his skull in a later scene.

Origin

On June 24th, 1994, Disney released the film The Lion King in the United States. In the film, Scar kills his brother Mufasa after dropping him off a cliff. Later in the film, Scar speaks to the skull of a lion (shown below).

On January 11th, 2021, TikToker @classyking0 shared a video in which they analyze several scenes from The Lion King. Cutting between clips from the film, Google searches and their own reaction, @classyking0 shows that in a scene following Mufasa's death, Scar plays with the skull of a lion. After researching what animals eat lions, @classyking0 concludes that lions are the only animals that eat lions. They believe that this proves that Scar, not his underling hyenas, is responsible for the skull. The post received more than 9 million views, 2.3 million reactions and 52,000 comments in less than two weeks (shown below).

Two days later, on January 13th, 2021, Twitter user @nickeemVO shared the video. The post received more than 994,000 views, 83,000 likes and 29,000 retweets in less than one week (shown below).

On January 14th, Redditor My_Memes_Will_Cure_U shared the video in the /r/maybemaybemaybe^[1] subreddit. The post received more than 31,000 points (85% upvoted) and 500 comments in less than one week.
