Salty Ice Cream is an NSFW slang term that refers to semen left for more than two days which is then scooped out like ice cream and consumed by the person. The term trended on TikTok in late 2022 as a Don't Google piece of shock media. It initially trended as Saltyicecream with no spaces. It was alleged if one searched the "no spaces" version and clicked on images and videos, they'd see some unsightly media, referring to Danbooru artist Saltyicecream. Most creators prompted their viewers to record themselves before and after Googling the term, leading to many reaction videos.

Origin

The term "Salty Ice Cream Scooper" was added to Urban Dictionary ^[1] on September 21st, 2007, by user Corey Miller who defined it as, "Any man or woman who consumes sperm left over for more than 2 days. Usually the sperm comes in flavors due to the donors taking sperm flavor tablets." Over the course of 15 years, the definition received over 190 likes and 150 dislikes (shown below).

In 2022, the word "Saltyicecream" with no spaces surfaced on TikTok,^[3] likely in regards to Danbooru artist Saltyicecream, who illustrated NSFW GIFs and imagery of anime / manga. Saltyicecream stopped uploading content in 2021, inspiring later interest on Twitter^[8] about the artist's whereabouts (shown below).

Spread

On May 14th, 2013, the term was first mentioned on 4chan's /tv/^[2] board. Despite some early interest in the 2010s, the term didn't take off en masse until 2022 on TikTok. This started on January 7th, 2022, when TikToker^[3] fwjhay posted a video that prompted their followers to not Google "Saltyicecream." The video received roughly 24,800 plays in nine months (shown below, left). On March 18th, 2022, TikToker^[4] dzy.theoff5 posted a similar video, gaining roughly 14,300 plays and 1,000 likes in seven months (shown below, right).

In late 2022, Saltyicecream videos and search interest increased due to more viral instances.^[7] For example, on September 4th, 2022, TikToker^[5] olivyajjj received roughly 423,300 plays and 3,600 likes for a Saltyicecream video in one month (shown below, left). On October 16th, 2022, TikToker^[6] justyyyn_ posted a video that received roughly 1.6 million plays and 200,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).

Rainbow Kiss content acts as a form of shock media and is similar to other Don't Google buzzwords. Many creators filmed themselves before and after Googling "rainbow kiss" as the term trended online in mid-2022.
