Raccoon Dancing in a Circle, also known as Raccoon Dancing to "Pedro", refers to a viral video of a baby raccoon dancing and spinning within a circle-format video, most often to the EDM remix of the song "Pedro" by Raffaella Carrà. In the video, the raccoon is being rotated along the edge of the frame as he bobs up and down, appearing to wave his hand or paw in the air. Originally posted in September 2023, the clip achieved virality on TikTok in late March 2024, also spreading to YouTube and Instagram. The meme notably shares similarities to CatJAM.

On September 23rd, 2023, TikTok[1] user @fleksa30 uploaded a video of his raccoon dancing set to the song "Kak Dela?" by MZLFF & LIDA. In the circle-format video, the raccoon is being rotated along the edge of the camera as he bobs up and down. The upload (shown below) received over 9.3 million views and 1.9 likes in seven months (shown below).

Prior to March 2024, the video saw limited use in memes online. Notably, on February 25th, 2024, producer Blage posted the video, combined with one of his music tracks, to Instagram,[2] where it received over 1.1 million likes in two months (shown below).

On March 8th, TikTok[3] user @malykha2114 used the video of the raccoon as a part of a meme about the sound system in their car, combining the video with an EDM remix of "Pedro" by Raffaella Carrà. The upload gained over 926,000 views and 71,300 likes in one month (shown below, left). On March 9th, TikTok[4] user @lowbass_96 used the video in a similar meme that received over 912,000 views and 82,200 likes in one month (shown below, right).

The videos prompted viral spread of the raccoon meme on TikTok in March 2024. For example, on March 11th, 2024, TikTok[5] user @nui.at posted a video that received over 924,000 views and 94,900 likes in one month (shown below, left). On March 29th, TikTok[6] user @anastasiya_guliyta posted a parody that garnered over 3 million views and 241,000 likes in two weeks (shown below, right).

Following the viral popularity on TikTok, the format spread to YouTube and Instagram. For example, on March 22nd, YouTube[7] user GionMusic uploaded a 29-second edit of the video that accumulated over 445,000 views in three weeks (shown below).

CatJAM / Vibing Cat

CatJAM is a BetterTTV custom Twitch emote of a white cat rhythmically bobbing its head as if to the beat of a song. Originating from a viral video, the emote gained major success on Twitch after being enabled by multiple popular streamers, later gaining popularity as source material for memes in which the cat "vibes" to various music. The cat is also known as Vibing Cat.
