Queen Elizabeth Chess Moves refers to a series of photographs of Queen Elizabeth II standing on a black and white checkerboard tile floor. These images are typically captioned with jokes about chess, particularly the line "be aware, she can move in any direction," referring to the queen piece in the board game Chess.

Origin

On July 6th, 2017, Twitter [1] tweeted a photograph of Queen Elizabeth on a checkerboard floor and the caption, "She can move in any direction you know…" The tweet received more than 37,000 retweets and 71,000 likes in less than two years (shown below).

On November 20th, 2018, Redditor [2] udipadhikari posted an image[3] of the Queen with the caption "Be aware she can move in any direction" on the /r/dankmemes subreddit. The post received more than 18,000 points (94% upvoted) and 130 comments in less than one year (shown below, left).

Shortly after, the image was updated with a new font by Imgflip [4] user csm0652. The post received more than 15,000 views in three months (shown below, center).

On February 10th, Facebook [5] PicturesInHistory posted the image with the same caption. The post received more than 51,000 reactions, 2,000 comments and 30,000 shares in 24 hours (shown below, right).
