"ORANGATANGABANGIN," sometimes known as "Gorilla Da Spinna," is a 2021 hip-hop song by rap group $tatic Goonz featuring B-MAN, notable for using the opening track "Sweden" from the video game Minecraft in its beat. The song went viral on TikTok in March 2021 following the virality of a number of videos tracking its recording process on the platform.

Origin

On March 6th, 2021, TikToker @staticshawty uploaded a video of rapper Criggy Da Pissay[2] of the hip-hop collective $tatic Goonz recording the opening line of "Orangatangabangin," into a laptop with the on-screen caption, "This man pulled up for 3 hours and paid 125 and hour and only made this," a version of the We Never Making It Out The Hood format (shown below). The video went viral, garnering over 24.8 million views in two months.

The original sound for the video was used a number of times following its virality, most notably by TikToker Drew Sapio in a video combining the song with the "Spinning Gorilla" video, garnering over 4 million views in two months (shown below). The sound inspired over 5,000 videos in the same span of time.

On March 8th @staticshawty posted an update, showing $tatic Goonz rapper B-MAN recording his lyrics, garnering 1.7 million views in two months (shown below, left). On March 10th, @criggypissy, the account for Criggy Da Pissay, announced the release of the full song on Apple Music and Distrokid, garnering over 2 million views in the same span of time (shown below, right). The song was available on the ninth.

The $tatic Goonz YouTube channel uploaded the full song on March 10th, garnering over 816,000 views in two months (shown below).

The beat is notable for using the song "Sweden" by producer C418 (shown below), best known as the "theme song" for the video game Minecraft.

One of the most notable videos using the song shows a gorilla spinning followed by an orangutan walking posted by TikToker @pctrash on March 13th, 2021, garnering over 4.3 million views in two months (shown below).

On March 19th, YouTuber[7] MTSG uploaded a compilation of videos set to the song. On the same date, YouTuber Blotched Pineapple uploaded an hour-long video looping the "good part" of the song (the section present in the TikTok videos) over a loop of the spinning gorilla, garnering over 30,000 views in two months (shown below).



On April 16th, Instagram user @loudequalsfunny posted a low-res video of a gorilla over a constant humming sound with the caption "gorilla da spinna," garnering over 22,000 views in a month (shown below).



On April 28th, Twitter[8] user @cooldisks101 posted a video edit consisting of ape footage over what is presented as a cover of Orangatangabangin by experimental hip-hop group Death Grips, performed by the user in their typically harsh style (shown below).



Spinning Gorilla

Spinning Gorilla refers to a viral video of a silverback gorilla spinning in front of the glass at a zoo (shown below). The video went viral in April 2020 thanks to series of shitpost edits.
