Neha Kakkar T-Series Vs. Falguni Pathak refers to debates and discussions about the superiority of 80s Bollywood singer Falguni Pathak's song "Maine Payal Hai Chhankai" to a 2022 remix from singer Neha Kakkar called "O Sajna." Neha Kakkar released her remake of the iconic 80s song on September 19th, and quickly received backlash from Indian social media. The music label "T-Series" has come to be known in recent years for remixing classic Bollywood songs that some think are better left untouched.
Origin
In September 1999, Falguni Pathak released her track "Maine Payal Hai Chhankai," which loosely translates to "I make my anklets jingle." The track was a popular hit in its time, with a 2013 YouTube[1] reupload gathering over 300 million views in under ten years since its upload (seen below).
On September 19th, 2022, singer Neha Kakkar released a track named "O Sajna," which is a remix of the aforementioned Pathak song. The song was uploaded to T-series YouTube[2] channel on September 19th, gathering nearly 24 million views in nine days (seen below).

On September 22th, 2022, Falguni Pathak took to Instagram[3] to repost various stories that called Kakkar's remix bad and "cringe" (seen below).
On September 24th, 2022, Neha Kakkar took to Instagram[4] to say that she is "God's favourite child." She went on to say that "Very few people in the world get what I have received in life. That too at such a young age. This kind of fame, love, countless super hit songs, super duper hit TV shows, world tours, fans from little kids to 80-90 years old people and what not!! (seen below)."
Also on September 24th, Falguni Pathak had an interview with Pinkvilla where she said she was "overwhelmed and touched on receiving so much love from all over for the song, so had to share their feelings," and that she was dismayed that she did not retain the rights to her own song because she wasn't knowledgeable about copyright laws at the time.[5]
By September 24th, 2022, internet users were reacting to the conflict using memes to show their support for Pathak and mock Kakkar's tendency to remix old songs instead of making her own. Twitter[6] user @Bhakt_mhakal_ki posted a meme using a scene from The Irishman to show her preference for the 90s version. The tweet gathered over 9,000 likes and 1,700 retweets in three days (seen below).

Twitter[7] user @Niharikatwari_ took notice of the comments being left on the YouTube video for Neha Kakkar's version of the song, and posted a screenshot on September 26th that gathered over 7,000 likes in a day (seen below).
