Name Him. Name Your Son is a popular phrase used to caption pictures of creatures or objects that some might consider to be ugly.
Origin
On January 9th, 2018, Tumblr [1] user http://fbsodin.tumblr.com/post/170327751260/name-him-name-your-son posted a picture of a large amphibian with the caption "Name Him. Name Your Son." The post (shown below) received more than 122,000 notes in six months.
Spread
Following the post, powerfrog posted that they had named the frog "BongWater" (shown below, left),[2] which became the subject of many jokes.
Several weeks later, on January 29th, Tumblr[3] user tuuvie shared a sketch of the original Tumblr post. The post (shown below, center) received more than 125 notes in six months.
The following day, on January 30th, Tumblr[4] user fbsodin posted a picture of a different animal with the same caption. The post (shown below, right) received more than 725 notes in six months.
