The Josh Hutcherson Chair Masturbation Scene, also known as the Josh Hutcherson Chair Scene, refers to a scene in the TV show Future Man in which actor Josh Hutcherson (as Josh Futturman) is seen masturbating in a chair before being walked in on by the other characters. The scene was referenced in late 2023 as a deleted scene in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie in which Hutcherson played the main character Mike Schmidt. Earnest and ironic fan edits of the scene trended on TikTok and YouTube in late 2023, specifically one video that showed the animatronics looking down on Hutcherson masturbating. The aforementioned video also spread as a GIF on Twitter / X.

Origin

On November 14th, 2017, the pilot episode of Future Man was released for streaming on Hulu.^[1] In one scene of the episode, the main character Josh Futturman (played by actor Josh Hutcherson) is seen masturbating in his computer chair when two characters enter the scene and interrupt him.

The scene was posted to YouTube^[2] on January 25th, 2023, by YouTuber 𝚂𝚑𝚊𝚞𝚗𝟷𝟻, gaining over 102,300 views and 1,700 likes in 10 months (shown below).

Spread

The scene started to gain memetic usage in mid-2023. Currently, the first known usage of the scene was an edit posted by TikToker^[3] @wndafl on May 25th, 2023, gaining roughly 1.7 million plays and 107,400 likes in six months (shown below, left).

Soon after, on June 5th, TikToker^[4] @aadoraation posted a similar edit using other scenes from Future Man as well, gaining roughly 1.3 million plays and 45,000 likes in five months (shown below, right).

Towards late 2023, the scene gained more usage on TikTok,^[5][6] coinciding with the release of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie in late October 2023.

On October 30th, YouTuber^[7] Jason posted a video called "Five Nights at Freddy's Movie deleted scene" that combined the "chair" scene from Future Man with an image of the FNaF animatronics looking down on Hutcherson, ending with an image reading, "DON'T JERK OFF SOIL YOURSELF." The video received roughly 53,400 views and 2,000 likes in 11 days (shown below).

Also on October 30th, 2023, X^[8] user @EvilBigGuy posted a GIF of the video posted by YouTuber^[7] Jason, gaining over 70,000 likes in 11 days (shown below). It is currently unknown if the GIF or YouTube video was posted first on October 30th.
