About

Follow Me To or #FollowMeTo refers to a series of photographs shot from the first person perspective of the photographer's subject pulling them by the hand in different locations. The photographs, made popular on Instagram by photographer Murad Osmann and his girlfriend Natalia Zakharova, have been mimicked by numerous other users and have been the subject of parody, image macros and photoshops.

Origin

On October 17th, 2011, Instagram[1] user @muradosmann posted a photograph shot from the first person perspective of his girlfriend pulling him by the arm through a door in Barcelona, Spain. He captioned the photograph (shown below) "Follow me #barcelona," garnering more than 30,800 likes in six years.

Spread

In the days after the photograph was taken, @muradosmann posted more photographs in the same fashion. Each photograph (shown below) received more than 21,000 likes in five years.

Several media outlets have covered the popularity of the Instagram account, including Huff Post,[2] Business Insider,[3] National Geographic[4] and more.

On January 6th, 2015, the couple released their first book of photography, "Follow Me To: A Journey Around the World Through the Eyes of Two Ordinary Travelers."[10]

The following year, the couple launched a YouTube[11] channel of their travels. As of November 2017, the account has more than 51,000 subscribers (examples below).

On May 19th, 2016, CNN[5] reported on a Facebook account that parodied Follow Me To. Forrest Lu, an interior designer from Taiwan, posted a photo album on the site called "Honeymoon Hawaii." Some of the pictures in the album featured him being dragged by the hair and nose by his wife.

On May 11th, he posted a picture[6] of him being pulled by the hair, receiving more than 3,700 reactions, 140 comments and 200 shares in a year and a half.

In 2017, a series of photoshops and image macro parodies also started appearing online on Twitter,[7] and Reddit [8][9] (examples below). In this series, the pictures have different subjects pulling the photographer or different, humorous locations that the photographer is being pulled toward. In each case, the photographs are captioned "Being pulled off to romantic places like 😍😍😍"
