Overview

Destroy Lonely Abuse Allegations refers to a series of tweets posted and subsequently deleted by Opium label rapper Destroy Lonely's ex-girlfriend, Ayisha Mia, in late June 2024. In the posts, Mia alleged that Destroy Lonely and her would often fight physically and that he "cracked" her "head open" in one incident in Germany. She also posted photos of her bleeding head and of Destroy Lonely harassing and following her friend in Paris. Mia also claimed that Destroy Lonely would call Don Toliver homophobic slurs, threaten to kill her and get mad at her for posting photos of herself online lest he lose aura points. The controversy and allegations quickly sparked discourse and media coverage online shortly after Mia's initial posts.

On June 24th, 2024, Destroy Lonely's ex-girlfriend Ayisha Mia (@ayisha.mia) made a series of posts on X^[1] / Twitter alleging that Destroy Lonely was abusive and mean to her. She posted photos of injuries she allegedly sustained from his attacks and recounted incidents in which he was overly controlling of her. The posts gathered several thousand likes apiece before they were deleted (seen below).

She also posted a since-deleted video of Destroy Lonely following her friend into a bathroom in Paris. In the video, Mia's friend can be heard saying, "Tell them what you just said, how much you love her," while Destroy Lonely begs her to delete the video with folded hands (which later went viral on its own).

Developments

Destroy Lonely^[2] responded to the accusations against him in a series of since-deleted tweets on June 24th, 2024. Among other posts, he wrote, "Hoes mad," and that he, "Never cracked nobody skull ask my manager."

Redditors on the subreddit /r/PlayboiCarti^[6] reposted both Mia and Destroy Lonely's posts and discussed the validity of the allegations, with many users noting Destroy Lonely's worries about losing aura points and other anecdotes that made him seem "corny."

On June 24th, 2024, X^[3] user @FearedBuck posted a screenshot of a fan defending Destroy Lonely, writing, "Destroy Lonely fans are unreal, the shorty talking about getting abused and u saying it was to promote the album 😭😭," and gathering over 17,000 likes in a day (seen below).
