Emperor Barron Trump or Caesar Trump refers to a trend in posting about Barron Trump, the son of Donald Trump, turning into an imperial or dictatorial figure at some future date. In right-wing spaces on X / Twitter and other platforms engaging in such posts, Barron is often compared to Augustus Caesar, Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great and other prominent figures from antiquity. Posters also commonly make reference to Barron's "physiognomy," highlighting his perceived great height (at six foot seven) and well-defined features. Barron, who was a child during his father's presidency in 2017-2021, has appeared at several public events associated with his father as an adult and photographs of him from these events have fueled memes in early 2024.

Origin

Barron Trump had been the subject of memes throughout his father's presidency in the late 2010s and early 2020s, but the trend of specifically posting about him as a possible emperor of the United States emerged in early 2024.

A photograph taken on January 18th, 2024, at the funeral of his grandmother, which showed Barron reaching out to Donald, possibly to console him, circulated widely online that month (seen below).^[1]

That same day, commenters like X user @bradleydevin compared Barron's appearance in his profile in the photograph to pictures of emperors on Roman coins. @bradleydevin received over 5,600 likes in three months for the post (seen below) making this comparison.^[2]

Spread

Another picture of the funeral party was posted to Reddit's /r/pics on January 18th, 2024, receiving over 38,000 upvotes and 7,300 comments in the course of four months.^[4] Many of the commenters compared Barron, who is apparently 6' 7", to the Cousin Greg character from Succession.

Meanwhile, other commenters continued offering takes about Barron's perceived resemblance to Roman emperors. For example, X user @contramordor argued on January 18th that he was "actually growing up in precisely the context necessary for a Caesarean figure," receiving over 12,000 likes in four months (seen below).^[3]

A January 21st, 2024, thread on Reddit's /r/ParlerWatch, a community devoted to monitoring right-wing media, commented on the trend of comparing Barron to Roman emperors, earning nearly 900 likes in three months.^[5]

On January 14th, Donald Trump brought up that Barron played "war games," and appeared to describe the map of a Paradox Interactive game, leading some to comment that this behavior indicated Barron's readiness for a Caesarean role.^[8]

A photo of Barron posing with a steel magnate, an MMA fighter and a few other minor figures in MAGA world at Mar-a-Lago was posted by entrepreneur Justin Waller on April 3rd, 2024, on X, and Barron's posture in the photo inspired further comparisons to Caesar.^[6] The photo (seen below) earned 24,000 likes in the course of two days.^[7]
