About
Day of the Pillow is a slang term for a hypothetical mass killing event against Baby Boomers carried out through the means of them being smothered with pillows in nursing homes. Coined on 4chan in 2017, the term has been used as a way of expressing a strong dislike for and wishing harm onto members of the Baby Boomer generation. The phrase references the "Day of the Rope," a white supremacist concept for a revolution.
Origin
On July 14th, 2017, in a "Boomer hate thread" posted on 4chan's /pol/[1] board, an anonymous 4chan user wrote, "Inb4 […] millennials that haven't given grandma the day of the pillow," coining the term (seen below).
On July 24th, 2017, in an a /pol/[2] thread about social security, an anonymous 4chan user commented, "Boomers can't die enough. Day of the pillow when" (shown below, left). The post garnered multiple positive replies from other users, who laughed at the expression (example[3] shown below, right).

Spread
In the following years, the phrase saw continued use on 4chan's /pol/,[4][5] also spreading to other boards, used to express strong dislike for Baby Boomers and for wishing harm onto them (examples shown below, left and right). The concept of the Day of the Pillow was eventually defined as Baby Boomers one day getting smothered with pillows by immigrant nurses in nursing homes.

Starting in 2019, the expression began spreading outside of 4chan, appearing in posts on iFunny,[6] Reddit[7] and Twitter.[8]
On June 7th, 2021, alt-right author Vox Day[9][10] used the phrase in his blog post accusing Baby Boomers, writing, "So, eat, drink, and be merry today, for the Day of the Pillow is coming," and then again a follow-up post on June 18th that year, assisting the spread of the phrase.
On June 15th, 2021, Urban Dictionary[11] user Littlest Chickenhawk added the definition for the phrase to the site.

I bet that if you were like most people you would eventually get bored of all the drug the jews were feeding you and set out to solve some problems, But without any problems you would have to create your own. And the perfect problem is your lawn. If you fill your yard with grass you can create a microcosm where you would actually get to experience real responsibility and actual solve a problem for once in your life. The grass in your lawn is demanding but not too demanding. You need only mow it once or twice a week. And it is only as strenuous as you want it to be. You can cut your lawn with a normal lawn mower or a motorized lawn mower or even one of those mowers that come with the chair. For those unfortunate enough to be born into a world without strife of any sort, mowing your lawn would be the perfect way to inject some reality into your life. The only problem here is that there were actual problems out there that you boomers could have actually solved and you ignored them.
