Commander of Cheese refers to a mispronunciation of the title of "Commander-in-chief" made by Kellyanne Conway, Counselor to United States President Donald Trump.

Origin

On June 6th, 2018, while discussing the President disinviting 2018 Super Bowl winners, the Philadelphia Eagles, on CNN, Kellyanne Conway referred to President Trump as the "Commander of Cheese" before correcting herself and calling him, "Commander-in-chief."

Following the gaffe, people online began mocking Conway for her statement. Twitter [1] @tommyxtopher tweeted the video and commented, "I am literally dead now. Kellyanne Conway just called Trump 'the Commander of Cheese.'" The post (shown below, left) received more than 2,800 retweets and 7,200 likes in six hours.

Twitter[2] user @OhNoSheTwitnt tweeted, "CNN: Kellyanne Conway accidentally calls Trump 'commander of cheese' NBC: Kellyanne Conway accidentally calls Trump 'commander of cheese' Fox News: Kellyanne Conway successfully appeals to Wisconsin voters where Hillary failed miserably." The post (shown below, center) received more than 275 retweets and 1,600 likes in six hours.

Twitter[3] user @BettyBowers tweeted, "Kellyanne Conway just called Donald Trump the Commander-of-Cheese. Apparently, she's seen his Trump Tower decor. And I just lost a $100 bet that Kellyanne would never say anything true. #CommanderOfCheese"
