Bill Nye "The Planet Is On Fucking Fire" Video is a viral video of TV personality Bill Nye explaining climate change with explicit language from a segment on the HBO news comedy show Last Week Tonight With John Oliver. Screenshots from segment have been used as reaction image macros.
Origin
On May 12th, 2019, HBO aired a segment of Last Week Tonight on the Green New Deal, an economic and environmental policy proposal that aims to fight man-made climate change. In the video, Bill Nye uses explicit language, stating "you're not children anymore" and "the world is on fucking fire." After the video had been uploaded to YouTube, it received more than 6 million views in one month (shown below).

People reacted positively to the video. The video reached the front page of several subreddit. On May 14th, Redditor[1] maxwellhill posted the video in the /r/worldnews subreddit, where it received more than 65,000 points (77% upvoted) and 6,300 comments. On the /r/Futurology subreddit, Redditor[2] mvea posted the video, garnering more than 34,000 points (76% upvoted) and 4,200 comments in one month. Redditor[3] DaStompa posted the video on /r/videos, where it received more than 35,000 points (74% upvoted) and 3,900 comments in one month.
On May 14th, Redditor[4] RegularNoodles posted a meme of the video in the /r/MemeEconomy subreddit. The post recevied more 29,000 points (89% upvoted) and 1,300 comments in one month (shown below).
On May 20th, Instagram user posted a video setting the segment to music. The post received more than 355,000 views and 54,000 likes in less than one month (shown below, left).
Several weeks later, on June 5th, YouTuber melodysheep also posted a remix of the video, setting the segment to a hard, brassy beat. The post received more than 65,000 views in less than one month (shown below, right).
